I retired early from my main job after 25 years service back in 2004. Early in my retirement, I decided to make a few bird boxes in my workshop in the back garden for a few friends.
Common feedback was how much they loved having the bird box but they all wondered what was going on inside the box. So I set to work looking for a camera small enough to fit inside the bird box. This was a tough task as the boxes weren’t large and I needed one as small as possible. After extensive searching, I eventually found the ideal camera I was looking for.
My next bird box did included a camera so that we could see what was going on in the world of the blue-tit. Throughout the next year, we couldn’t have imagined what we were going to see. Potential tenants inspected the bird box and eventually moved in. We observed them building their nest and eventually laying eggs. The male played his part feeding the female day and night while she incubated the eggs. We witnessed the eggs hatching and the parents non-stop feeding frenzy. And the finally the chicks making their first flight was amazing.
As it was such a success, our friends wanted their boxes upgraded to include the camera so they could also enjoy the experience.
The boxes now come with even better wireless cameras with day and night vision so you can keep an eye on your birds 24 hours a day. A wireless receiver connects to your TV and you can watch till your hearts content.
